I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Psych patients who are seeking care from professionals who care deeply and are willing to help and support them through a crisis or healing should look elsewhere.
I was a patient and was seeing a doctor not reviewed here. I see some great reviews of a Dr. Arora and want to highlight that this review is not related to that doctor. Very early on I thought I had found a great match but overtime it was clear that I was just another transaction. I am a psych patient who suffered a major trauma in May. I also have ADHD and anxiety so the trauma has upended my life. Some days I am just unable to get out of bed. It’s hard to understand whether the crippling effects are trauma based or a facet of the ADHD. From my therapist, it is clear that one always amplifies the other. By the way, I would not have made it this far without my therapist.

I missed an appointment when I was in the middle of a panic attack in a public elevator. Some people had to help me off the elevator and bring me to a place that felt safe.
On the next appointment, I did not want to miss it so I attempted to log into it from where I was just to ensure I can receive his care. I was told that policy indicates I have to be in a private secure location. For neurodivergent beings like me, time management is a hard task especially if you have not been receiving the right care. Mind you, the anniversary of my trauma event was coming up the following week so I was shocked at how easily I was discarded. They said they give patients a month supply of meds at discharge so you can go off and find another doctor. My pharmacy has reached out 5 times and they have not responded. I ran out of all meds and ended up regressing so much. At this point, I have resumed old prescriptions I had like lexapro just to keep myself afloat while I seek out a new practice. I have been unable to work because I lack ADHD meds.

To this practice, I was a mere transaction. I wonder what might have happened if he really assessed the situation and my diagnosis to understand how to help me as opposed to saying we can no longer see you.

If you are experiencing trauma based episodes and also have ADHD, this practice and this doctor do not have the empathy and patience to see you through to the other side. They will consider the bottom line before analyzing how ADHD affects you, your learning style and will likely not even remember of any significant dates that affect you.
It is unfortunate but it is true. Find a practice that understands trauma and that understands how severe ADHD affects you.
In short, find an empathic group of people to be part of your team. Yes it is business, but by golly business better not come before the human.

Dr. Arora is a phenomenal psychiatrist who uses his many years of experience to offer patients a compassionate and understanding experience that is facilitated by his unique kindness and calmness even when treating complex needs. With complicated mood, attention deficit and complex trauma issues I was used to clinicians that were able to provide only the bare minimum of care which led to multiple hospitalizations and many misdiagnoses. Dr. Arora provided an accurate diagnosis of my issues within the first few sessions and began tackling my longstanding "hopeless" mental health issues with a simple and adequate medication regimen. The past year and a half while being Dr. Arora's patient I have experienced the most stability I have had since my issues started in adolescence. He is not only a psychiatrist but an advocate and he works from a holistic lens careful not to overlook both psychiatric and medical issues. Throughout my treatment I have always felt confident and informed and Dr. Arora answers all and any questions which means a lot for someone with a lot of medical anxiety. He also is open to collaboration and feedback and makes sure you understand the decisions he makes regarding your care. The team at Boston Psych is always responsive and organized and the telehealth process has been efficient and without issue. My insurance has now changed which is the only reason I am leaving Boston Psych. But I will always remember Dr. Arora and forever be grateful for quite genuinely having my life back. I made more progress with Dr. Arora than I have in my previous 15 years of psychiatric treatment and I highly recommend Boston Psych to anyone who is seeking psychiatric care but particularly for mood disorders and attention deficit issues. Thank you so much Dr. Arora!

He is so kind and genuine and you never feel like you are being judged. You never feel rushed during appointments - he is very thorough and takes his time making sure that all your questions are answered. You can really tell he cares about his patients by the amount of time he invests in each appointment. Any time you have questions or concerns outside of your appointment he is extremely prompt in getting back to you which is greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend Dr. Arora for anyone looking for a psychiatrist - he is one of a kind in his field.

Dr. Arora has saved my life. I was at my lowest when he started treating me, and now I am doing so much better. He has also continuously given me so much hope. He answers my many panicked messages. He asks very thorough questions and really takes his time to look at my chart. And he listens to feedback. I am very lucky I found such a good psychiatrist.

Dr. Arora is wonderful, he is a very respectful yet introspective psychiatrist. He helped to put me on the correct medication and my mental/emotional health has flourished since. I feel like he truly understands me and doesn't dismiss my experiences. So if you find yourself frustrated by other mental health professionals I highly suggest scheduling an appointment with him.

Dr. Arora is a highly competent professional psychiatrist. Prior to finding him, practically all the psychiatrists we had had always demanded that we sent our ward to the Emergency Room (for onward admittance into the wards) each time our ward was in a depression episode. Those psychiatrists would not titrate or change our ward’s medication without resting their finger on the Emergency Room button.

But Dr. Arora is different. He is smart, confident and he knows what he is doing. His professional thoughts over our ward’s condition throughout his almost 4 years of care were validated by the McLean Hospital during a final hospitalization of our ward. We were glad that we found him.

If you have a case that appears refractory, Dr. Gurvinder Arora is your psychiatrist. He is experienced, fearless, thoughtful and personable.

Dr. Arora has been outstanding for our family. My 8 year old son and I both are patients of him and I am forever grateful for his knowledge and expertise. After years of seeing doctors and therapists that were not able to pinpoint my son's diagnosis and constantly prescribe meds that did not fit, Dr. Arora throughly met with my son (and continues to do so with both of us) and from there figured out a disorder that no one else seemed to even acknowledge prior. Today due to Dr. Arora's help, my son and I are both in a great place. We immensely trust Dr. Arora and for us that is incredibly important. He is very easy to talk to and responds so quickly if we need anything outside of our appointment times. I would highly recommend him to anyone, and I actually have to multiple family members and friends.

I have struggled for most of my life (I am almost 30) with depression, anxiety, ptsd, and substance abuse issues.

Dr. Arora has always been kind and compassionate and listens without judgement. I have been confident in his understanding of medications and he always informs me about side effects. I have felt for a long time like it was hopeless trying to find something that would work for me, since other psychiatrists have tried and failed, but we have reached that point in my medication that I can function and have a full life where I can thrive, face my issues, and work on myself.

He also is very easy to talk to and does not rush me along like every other psychiatrist has, and he gets back to me quickly whenever I reach out with concerns outside of my appointments. It is clear that he genuinely cares about his patients' lives. If you are struggling with your current psychiatrist or need one in the first place, give him a try. I could not recommend him enough.
