During the COVID pandemic, we were looking for counselors for our kiddos, then 8 and 7. I called dozens of therapists and they either weren’t accepting new patients or they didn’t see children that age. Eventually, our pediatrician recommended that we have both our children see a child psychologist for a full battery of tests. She provided a list of 25 options and recommended two in particular based on positive feedback from her office and other parents. One of those two was Little House Psychology, and we reached out to Dr. Royster.

We had a great first impression, and it was well-deserved. In the end, she did psychological testing on both our children and confirmed what we thought: they are both twice exceptional (and in different ways). She interviewed their teachers, us as parents, and the children themselves, and then she provided a comprehensive report that helped us to see how their brains work. She provided a lot of great ideas and resources. She is kind, helpful, sensitive, thorough, and wise. As parents, we’ve had meetings with her without either child to discuss parenting challenges.

Our youngest, who had previously had a bad experience with counseling, sees Dr. Royster as a therapist. It’s been such a good fit that our oldest (who generally resists therapy) even wants to see her. We’ve tried a lot of counselors and therapists over the last 5 years and I can’t recommend Dr. Royster strongly enough. When other parents in our neighborhood social media group ask for recommendations, numerous parents jump in to recommend her although her office is more than 25 minutes away from our neighborhood . She’s really fantastic with kids 10 and under and their parents.

It is very hard to find providers who are both competent and warm. Dr. Royster is both of these things and so much more! I can’t recommend her highly enough. We should all be so lucky to have Dr. Royster’s in our life- She is truly the best of the best!
