They charge you $400 out-of-pocket for an initial consultation which is utterly ridiculous. Took me maybe half an hour to find a psychiatrist online for four times less than that amount. Not to mention the completely unprofessional way they responded to a recent 1-star review.

Took 3 months to get an appointment while my Son was psychotic, depressed and self destructive. Seen end of Jan. and is on 2nd Professional already. Now June he is the worst he has EVER been. Psychotic as hell and NOT even on a Psychotic Medication. Keep putting him on drugs that do not work with him. No Social Worker although the site says they do. I am at my wits end. My son needs help and no one cares! ( I am a Nurse and worked psych)

I've had nothing but positive experiences at Penn Psych and at both locations. The front desk staff is always warm and friendly and treats people with dignity and respect. I've worked with both a therapist and medication provider and both have done an amazing job helping me get on track. After having a bad experience at a different facility, I would highly recommend Penn Psych.

I would give five stars for the doctor I see, she's amazing. She listens, she's considerate, compassionate, she works with me and my medications to find what works best.

The two stars is because of how damn difficult it is to reach her outside of an appointment due to the REST of the staff. I can't email her directly, apparently. Instead I have to call, and no one answers these calls 90% of the time even within business hours during a normal work week. They almost never respond to voice-mail either so don't even bother leaving one. If the pharmacy calls, I'll never find out the result of that call because of zero communication with me, the actual patient involved.

I am self-pay because I love the doctor I see so much, and when I moved I didn't want to switch prescribers because I trust her. But the communication is horrendous with everyone else. I drive nearly an hour to get there so it's not like I can just pop in to see if anyone got my messages or anything.

Five stars for Lisa, she's amazing, helpful, listens to me, understanding. One star for the rest of the thing.

Today was my third time going here on a regular schedule. My doctor has been great but I was supposed to have an appointment today at 8:30 to speak with my doctor about changing my medication and this is also when my main major medication gets refilled.

Well apparently someone dropped the ball on scheduling my appointment and put someone else on it instead. To make things worse, the doctor I normally see wasn’t even in and they had called this person with my appointment to reschedule, which they did.

I took off work and changed my schedule for this appointment. Now I have to take time out of my work week to go to a different location to see my doctor. To them it was like it was no big deal and it happens all the time. I am beyond frustrated. I understand we are all human and we make mistakes but this is peoples MENTAL HEALTH.

Maybe try to look for more competent and reliable people in your hiring process.

I came to Penn Psych four years ago from Valley Creek Crisis Center's inpatient program. The intake process at Penn Psych was helpful as I met my first therapist at Penn Psych who was really good. Now I see Molly for therapy and Lisa for med checks. Both are wonderful to work with; very professional, competent, and caring. The staff are awesome and kind. It's a great practice. I would not be alive today if it weren't for Penn Psych, my therapists and psychiatrists. There are few words that do justice for how much I am thankful for everyone at Penn Psych. The only thing I think would make it even better is if the practice had a sliding scale payment option. It would make therapy a lot more affordable for many folks and open the door for more clients. Other than that, I have only high praise for the practice. A real God sent.

I went here for multiple years and it was a nightmare.

Before you respond with "we don't see you in our system" I don't use my legal name online.

The turnover rate here is awful. I must've seen four or five different doctors in the ~5 years I was here. They didn't take most of my problems seriously and brushed it off as me just being a kid. They were almost never on time - seriously, they'd call me back 20 minutes late and then my appointment would be cut short and they'd act like it was our fault.

They also gave almost zero warning to the doctors leaving. I would call to make a follow up appointment or get a medicine refilled and just be told "oh that doctor doesn't work here anymore, come in for an intake with (x)"
