The doctor I had seemed to really know what he's doing, as the medication he added not only stabilized my mood pretty well, but it also seems to be helping with my extremely debilitating ME/CFS. This is so unexpected and life altering. Thank you; I finally have hope again.

This place left my mentally ill son at a shelter with roaches on him and ppl stole his shoes. He was eating soup in a can he had to poke a hole in. I removed him as I was In total disbelief. University health saved us.

I went here during 2020. I was in the adolescence unit, I personally had a great stay. The nurses were kind, caring, friendly, and showed they actually cared for us. The kids in there are most of the time really sweet and just ended up in a bad spot. The staff was calm and patient with us and we could earn things if we were good, like time in the gym, extra snacks and listening to music. I was there on Halloween and we got to sit together and paint pumpkins that we were allowed to keep after our stay, but we didn’t personally have them till we left. This is the best psychiatric center in the kcmo area. The food was really enjoyable, we had multiple options for what we wanted and they offered desserts as well. During my stay I had one bad experience with a nurse because she didn’t enjoy her job, so I hope she got a new one and has since moved forward and can be kind. They had a great schedule for us in there and kept us on track with our group times. I made great friends in there who taught me a lot, I was the second youngest during my stay so some of the older kids looked out for me and were very generous. If you’re looking for a place that will genuinely help your child or yourself this is definitely the place you want. Thank you to the staff that was there during my stay. You truly helped me get better by believing in me.

Stayed in 2021, adult unit. The food was amazing, the environment was really positive. Although, during my stay the nurses were the most careless people I met in this whole facility. Treated us more like prisoners than patients. The techs were amazing, kind and super understanding, and so was my therapist Karli at the time. As a patient. ALWAYS ASK ABOUT FILING A GRIEVANCE. If there is something you beileve is wrong. Go to the top. Let the place know. It's the only way the future can change, only way they can become better at care. I myself now work in a psychiatric facility. Things aren't always great unfortunately. But for mental health we can only try to get better at understanding it for yourself and others. Anyone reading this, remember you are strong. Things don't get easier but they can indeed get better.

They are absolutely terrible my daughter was there and I just am totally shocked she left but before she left I filled complaints fast and I'm not done I'm soo filing more today as of yesterday too on more issues and causes of actions but do not let any of r loved ones here and the operator?! She's from Hell!!

Worst assessments I’ve ever seen. Mary specifically could have her job replaced with a machine that reads a medical chart. Absolutely no analysis attempted. Merely looked at the chart and read off her recommendation from a handbook. Coldest interaction with a medical professional I’ve ever had. No sympathy or empathy. Literally making it worse for those who need help the most. Will be submitting a complaint to the MODMH.

As a patient there in the adolescent section I can say the staff was relatively nice and the food was great. I think it depended on the group of kids you were with and your situation for it to be nice or not. We had pe and art time everyday and they would sometimes bring us outside. The rules were pretty understanding. I had a very good experience there. Other then my situation.

I would give this place less one stars. first off you want to be abused go here. They will lock you in a hot hot room with no way out for over 45 minutes grab you like you are an animal, but here’s the thing the woman who was handling me didn’t commutate once with me. She literally locked me in a room no way out for over a hour, watched me have a panic attack and almost faint before she even came back. Basically this place will treat less than human! So good for them they're in a mental health profession and have no compassion or humanity for other people that are struggling, and this is just intake ! You still have anywhere from 2 days to god knows how long. They literally have zero communication with patients and what’s going on with your own health care. While, yes you may be in crisis or whatever but that doesn’t excuse their employees inability to communicate with the patient, they’re doctors, the people who were helping you before at emergency room. Zero communication, this is the first step into getting help and this lady failed at all aspects of her job and being a good human in my opinion. But anyways this woman made me terrified of being there and felt unsafe. I have never even been in the hospital before for anything, and this was my first time ever going … asking for help … and treated less than human. Y'all where supposed to help in a time of a crisis instead they will just add to truma.
